When it comes to the McLaren brand as a whole, the Artura exemplifies the stealthy and unusual nature of their vehicles. The brand's reputation for relentlessly and fervently pursuing fresh solutions, even if some of these efforts reinvent the wheel, is inspired by the same spirit of innovative engineering seen in its race cars.
To use the McLaren Artura in its intended sense, this is literally true. Pirelli's Cyber Tyre technology, which features sticky P Zero tires in street, track, and winter configurations with an internal "blister" containing a Bluetooth-enabled sensor, made its debut on this vehicle.
As a result, the car's onboard computers can identify the tire material and information about the tire's air pressure and temperature in a matter of seconds. Our fire-engine red Artura was able to distinguish between the P Zero Corsa PZC4 tires it wore on the difficult 26-turn Ascari circuit and the P Zero PZ4s we melted away on the nearly on fire roads. We didn't have to look at the walls to know this because the car showed a checkered flag on the dashboard.

How the
McLaren Artura undermines McLaren's eccentric ergonomic norms is equally vexing (or relieving, or just mysterious). After getting used to the iPad-like home button in the middle of the screen, the Artura's button is knurled and relocated to the side, like the crown of a wristwatch. In place of being tucked away in the crevices of the aero vents, the switchgear for the dihedral doors is now mounted in a handle.
The lever for raising the nose has been replaced by a hard button, and the annoying gear-like knobs that adjusted the suspension and performance mapping have been replaced by small fist-like rockers mounted on the dashboard at 11 and 1 o'clock. In the past, these systems required us to press a "activation" button before they would function, but that extra step was unnecessary.
