Honda claims 315 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque for the 2023 Civic Type R. Both figures are improvements over the previous generation's car, which had 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. In spite of the fact that maximum horsepower is still delivered at 6500 rpm, peak torque is now generated between 2600 and 4000 rpm. Before, you could only get your hands on maximum torque between the rev limits of 2500 and 4500.
Honda kept the K20C1 turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four in the new CTR, but claims that it has improved engine response and produced a significant increase in power. One of the active valves in the exhaust system has been modified to open at higher engine speeds, and the air intake has been made more efficient.

The rest of the
Civic Type R's chassis has been improved over the outgoing model, with a wider front track and a wider rear track. Honda claims it has retuned the dual-axis strut front and multilink rear suspension for improved steering feel and straight-line stability, but does not elaborate. The new hatch's bodywork is more aerodynamic and generates more downforce thanks to changes like 0.6-inch wider hips. There have been rumors that it has a more rigid body structure than before.
