On its first home drive as part of our permanent fleet, the
CT5-V Blackwing blew off its tires in a fit of wheelspin. Even when using only a fraction of this car's 668 horsepower, the amount of hooliganism at the ready can seem almost reckless.
If the CT5-V weren't so open, predictable, and controllable, it would be difficult to push its limits without losing your footing. While we knew the Cadillac CTS-V8 sports sedan would perform admirably in this long-term evaluation, we had no idea the range of feelings we would experience behind the wheel of this vehicle.

Cadillac fixed an issue with the previous CTS-V by making an automatic the only transmission option, but with the new
CT5-V, 62% of Blackwing buyers have opted for the manual transmission. Our car is a sophisticated shade of blue called Wave Metallic, and while the bronze Brembo brake calipers complement the color, we would have preferred to spend an extra $1500 on a set of bronze wheels instead. Black and tan leather seats ($6090) with carbon-fiber seatbacks are another expensive addition to this vehicle, as is the sunroof ($1,450) which adds additional weight.
